Cheviot appoints the adviser who can best deliver against its objectives in each area.

Cheviot follows a detailed process for the appointment and review of advisers. Advisers are managed by the Chief Executive who reports to the Board on their performance every quarter. The Board undertakes a detailed review of all advisers once a year, looking at performance of core functions and also the delivery of any added value. This annual process also considers whether any appointments should be put out to tender.

Barnett Waddingham – Edward Spencer, Partner, is Scheme Actuary to the final salary schemes. Barnett Waddingham are a leading provider of Scheme Actuary services to UK Pension Schemes and provide a full range of actuarial services ranging from strategic to operational.
XPS Pensions Group – Peter Black, Partner, is Scheme Actuary to the With Profits Section. XPS Pensions Group is the largest pure pensions consultancy in the UK and uses the benefits of scale to invest in solutions for their clients.

Van Lanschot Kempen – Arif Saad, Executive Director, is our direct contact. Van Lanschot Kempen were appointed in February 2024 as the Fiduciary Manager for the Trustee.

Mobius Life Limited – Investment platform provider, providing investment administration services and investment solutions to pension schemes.

Cheviot currently uses three lawyers for different aspects of its work.

ARC Pensions Law LLP – Anna Copestake, Jane Kola, Partners, provide advice and support for ongoing investment work.
Pinsent Masons LLP – Mark Baker, Andy Wright, Partners, provide advice and support for Cheviot’s Master Trust work.

Crowe UK LLP – Led by Andrew Penketh, Partner, the team at Crowe are an essential part of the governance approach at Cheviot, providing the usual audit function for the statutory accounts and are responsible for the Audit Assurance Faculty reports.

PwC LLP – Led by Mark Jennings, Partner, the team at PwC provide a covenant assessment service for the Trustee.
